Frequently Asked Questions
Should I stay out till 3am on Bourbon St. the morning before my trip?
No.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, $200 per day to secure dates. You may pay via Venmo or Credit Card.
Where do you fish out of?
South East Louisiana. Hopedale and Delacroix mostly.
Do you provide lunch?
Unfortunately, I don’t provide lunch. I leave town before most places open and return after they close, so it’s just not practical. I will have plenty of bottled water in the cooler though.
How many anglers can you accommodate?
2 on my skiff. For parties greater than 2, I can run a multi-skiff trip with a great group of guides.
How long is a fishing day?
A full day is generally 8 hours, but I won’t pull you off fish. If they’re biting, we’ll stay out.
Can I use your gear?
Absolutely. My skiff is stocked with top of the line gear for your use - rods, reels, terminal tackle, flies etc. You can simply show up at the dock, hop on board, and have a great day of fishing.
Can I bring my own gear?
Of course! You are welcome to bring your own rods, reels, flies, etc. I just ask that you bear in mind poling skiffs are pretty small, so please keep extraneous gear and baggage to a minimum.
What weight rod should I bring?
An 8wt will be sufficient most days. If we are targeting bulls, or it will be windy, I suggest a 10wt.
How far do I need to be able to cast?
Accuracy and speed are more important than distance. Most shots are within 20’ of the boat. You do need to be able to cast big, heavy flies though (large lead dumbbell eyes).
What should I wear?
High quality polarized sunglasses are a must.
During the warmer months, a long sleeve UPF sun shirt, long pants, buff, and hat are recommended. Bring along a pair of socks too, even if you plan on wearing flip flops or going barefoot. It’s important to be able to cover up if the gnats or mosquitos are bad.
During the cooler months, dress like it’s 10-15 degrees colder than it actually is - It will be on the water, especially on the ride out. Dress in layers and wear a water/wind proof outer layer. Bibs are great when it’s cold out to keep you warm and dry.
Can I spin fish?
Absolutely! I always have spinning gear on board just in case.
Where should I stay?
Let me know the size of your party and your budget, and I can suggest a suitable place near the marina.
